Self Portraits

On your blog - post your favorite self-portrait (1 photo)

and your favorite professional portrait (1 photo).

Explain what YOU think makes a good photo (3-5 sentences please). Be specific. And then describe which style you think you will want to do when you have a camera in your hands again.

Up close and personal, makes a good photo, the detail in it, the emotion, what it means to you, I'm going to want to do photos like the first one I have on here, like of beauty.

Ethics in Fashion Photography

1. List the changes that were made to the model's face in the computer. (Look carefully)
- Eyes were lifted, head was lifted to make her neck look longer, made her look skinnier from the face, and her eyes were made bigger.

2. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like this in a photo? Why or why not?
- no, it's not because it's like fake advertising.

3. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
- no.

4. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
- they were all bad, they should of not have changed a thing, they may look bad normally, but it's still no excuse.

5. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.

- well, it wouldn't be a huge difference, I mean isn't photography about anything? just fashion photography focuses n photography.

6. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each?
- I don't know, I guess a photo could really explain something. It shows the beauty of it?

Ethical and Unethical

A. Post the manipulation that you think was the most unethical, and explain why you think it was unethical. If you do not know what the word ethic or unethical means, look them up on the internet. It is very important you know what those two words mean.

I say this is the most unethical because I mean come-on, it's obviously not Oprah's body, even I knew and I don't even know that much about Oprah.

B. Post the manipulation that you consider the least unethical, and explain why you think it is not as bad as others.  I couldn't really tell what was wrong with this one. It looked the same just darker.

Photo Manupulation and Ethics

A. Summarize the main points of the story in 1-4 sentences.
The story is mainly about how Photoshopping is bad, and either distorts or ruins the photo, and just shows things that aren't true by adding or taking away something from the original picture.

B. Explain why you think this type of photo editing is unethical or acceptable.

it's unethical because it just ruins the picture, it's like it's showing you a bunch of lies, but in picture form.

Warm-Up

This has to be my favorite photo because I mean, there's no words to explain this, it's a perfect picture, what caught my attention was the eye, but then I looked in and saw that it was showing what the eye was looking at, and it's really cool, I would love to learn how to take a picture like that some day.

I would simply just shoot a photo of a time when someone had true happiness.

National Geographic

1.     I would've liked to visit Prypiat, Ukraine because the pictures I see now of how old and beat-up it is and rusty, it makes me actually want to go and see it, and see how it use to look from when it did work.
